Overview

This single level 1304 sq. ft. home, featured in the 2010 Showcase of Green Homes, features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings in the main area which includes a dormer for additional natural light. Bamboo flooring is utilized in the main living area for visual appeal and ease of care.  An oversized 2-car garage provides additional room for a work bench or extra storage area. The outdoor entertaining area includes a gas BBQ niche with barn style doors.

Site and Water Protection

This home features permeable walkways and patios to allow rain to recharge into the ground rather than allowing it to flow into the storm drain.  Also, rain sensors are installed on the sprinkler and drip systems to eliminate water waste.  Inside the home features low flow toilets, faucets and showerheads.

Energy Efficiency

Energy Star Certified.  The home features a high efficient heat pump as the primary energy source to save you money.  It has a .30 U value on the windows and a 95% efficient hot water tank.  Also, the home was built using advanced framing techniques which means the outside walls are made with a 2x6 studs on a 24 inch center allowing for more insulation.  The sealed ducts ensure the all the energy from the efficient furnace heats the home and stays in the home.

Indoor Air Quality

The home features No VOC carpet glues and wall finishes.  Also, no VOC and formaldehyde free cabinets were used.

Material Use

The home features prefabricated walls ensuring the highest level of resource efficiency was used during construction.  Also, flooring is renewable bamboo and tiling is made from recycled materials.  The carpet and pad is 100% recycled.  Insulation is made from recycled materials and the roofing and siding have a 50 year warranty to ensure durability.
